Welcome Center of John Paul II University in Biala Podlaska is an administrative unit which delivers professional service and help to international students, especially to the newly enrolled ones, the candidates, but also visiting guests and exchange students. Following the example of leading Polish and foreign universities, we wanted to create a place where our international guests could find all sorts of information and support in various matters. Similar centers operate in various European Union countries, as well as at the leading Polish universities such as the Jagiellonian, Warsaw and Gdańsk University.
The scope of support that the Welcome Centre provides, can be divided into three areas. The first stage concerns the pre-arrival stage, during which assistance revolves around all matters related to registration in the IRK system, preparation of the application documents needed for the recruitment process as well as assistance in booking accommodation at the Student Dormitory. The second stage - on-arrival - concerns the student's first contact with the university, familiarization with its units, assistance in completing various formalities such as setting up a bank account, purchasing an insurance policy and public transportation card, as well as providing the necessary information about the general organization of a foreigner's life in Poland and in Biała Podlaska. The last stage is to provide assistance in matters related to pre-departure from the host university.
By opening the Welcome Centre, we wanted to enhance the access to information for the international community coming to John Paul II University in Biala Podlaska and to shape the attitudes of openness and tolerance throughout the academic environment. Welcome Centre of John Paul II University in Biala Podlaska is responsible for providing the necessary information on the structure of the University, its administrative procedures and competences of individual University units. Additionally, it helps the prospective candidates learn about the educational offer, John Paul II University in Biala Podlaska infrastructure, and helps them acquire information about Biała Podlaska and Poland.
